The first of our three-part Summer Picnic Concert Series took place on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, with over 220 enthusiastic attendees. Though uncertain at times, the weather cooperated. The musicians, a duo with Rita Hosking, and Sean Feder, and Andre Villoch accompanied a bit by Norm Wheeler, were outstanding and crowd pleasing. There was something for everyone, from great music to yard games and a couple guided tours of the barn.
We are so grateful to our co-sponsors, Row-by-Row and Leelanau Historical Society & Museum. Further, we could not have put on this concert without the Empire Area Community Center (EACC) volunteers who gave it their all for hours of set-up and tear-down. Learn more about the work of these terrific organizations by visiting their websites and support them as much as you are able.
Don’t miss the next two picnic concerts, Wednesdays, August 6 and August 13 from 5 to 7:30 pm. Come early and sign up for a free guided tour of the upper level of the Poor Farm Barn. Featured musicians on August 6 are Go North (Jonathan North, Denny Richards, and Sheila Brown). On August 13 you’ll hear The Brass Quintet from the Benzie Area Symphony Orchestra and the a cappella singers of TC Sings.
